Many people feel unfulfilled in life. They sense that they are not living the life they truly want, but rather moving through something that doesn’t resonate with them. This feeling is more common than we think—because, at our core, we all crave a sense of purpose and meaning.
But what does fulfillment really mean?
Before searching for it, we need to define it for ourselves.
The Three Dimensions of Fulfillment
Psychological research suggests that fulfillment can be understood through three key aspects:
- What we think – our beliefs, mindset, and inner dialogue
- What we do – our actions, habits, and daily choices
- The presence we bring – how aware and engaged we are in each moment
Among these, presence is often the most overlooked. Many of us operate on autopilot, disconnected from our experiences. We rush through tasks without truly being there.
Ask yourself:
Are you fully present in your life—or just passing through it?
If the answer is yes, I am passing by.
Practicing presence can really help you, you can do it differently and of course with creative process.
This simple practice—often called meditation in action—helps you reconnect with yourself. It allows you to understand what truly belongs to you and what does not.It doesn’t matter what you are doing painting, coloring or collage creating, try to enjoy every moment of it, every shape you choose, every color you would like to use.
The present moment experienced through visual arts can help you clarify your inner thoughts and feelings, strengthen your connection with yourself, and encourage authentic expression that truly belongs to you.
Once you finish your work, it can give you a sense of achievement and meaning. No matter how simple your artwork is, it can still be valuable and interesting. It also helps shift your focus from “doing” to “being,” and this shift is key to experiencing deeper fulfillment.
Fulfillment is not something you find outside of yourself—it is something you cultivate through awareness, presence, and authentic expression.
And through this shift, fulfillment naturally begins to grow.
